What tools do you use to collect micro content to repurpose? For example, if you see a quote that might make a good visual, or taking quotes from your own blog posts. What/where do you put the information to turn into something to share on social media. This might also include collecting articles to then include in a roundup.
I use Notion for this. It's a bit messy, but works. What I love about Notion is I can use the web clipper feature to capture blog posts, videos, tweets, or anything else I want to share and repurpose. I then have the link to the original content, and I can keep a list of places I have posted/what I posted. I also track when I last posted it so I am not spitting out the same content over and over again.
I also use it for populating our monthly newsletter, and our monthly update to stakeholders.
Thanks for the tip. What do you find "messy". What would make it more efficient?
Everything in Notion is messy for me because I don't spend time making it unmessy I guess.
It would be less messy if I had better filters and fields set up, some analytics built in so I could see how certain posts were performing, etc.
I actually sell a content repurposing planner :) It's primarily designed for your own content, but can easily be adapted to curating content from other people. You can check it out here: https://www.brittanyberger.com/shop/content-remix-planner/
Nice. Not quite what I was looking for but neat product. I'm more interested in the collection/curation right now. The steps before the calendering/planning.
I use Google Keep extensively. Its official Chrome extension works well as a web clipper/read later tool, which I use to save interesting links to read, research, or repurpose. In addition, I use Keep's native notetaking features to take notes on content to work on and draft tweets or blog posts.
Thanks Paolo, will definitely check that out. Looks promising!
I mostly use Evernote and have been doing so for ten years already by now I think. The webclipper saves all the interesting content I find online. I found this neat little chrome extension some time ago that save my Kindle highlights into Evernote too. My Twitter favorites are stored in there... almost everything. So that whenever I start writing myself it starts to give me all of these related content suggestions that are stored in there. It’s really helpful like this for me.
I use a bookmarklet I found years ago. This button w/ a single javascript line, takes any website gets the url and title: puts them into a google form. I then write some notes and submit to a repository that I make my weekly newsletter from. I've done this now 3 years.
I've made the bookmarklet available to folks who bought Better Sheets. And even just this week created an all in one newsletter creation tool, in google sheets! using the bookmarklet to grab articles.
Cool. So you bookmark just articles and write the notes in the form or the spreadsheet later?
Yes I can write notes, or paste a quote in the heat of the moment in the google form or can edit later and add notes.
