Do you have difficulties identifying your target market?

We get some clients who are not sure who to target exactly so I created a small summary of how you can achieve this as having a unique value proposition and a well-defined customer profile are important for your outreach.

Why?
The unique value proposition will trigger the interests of your leads.
Knowing your target market will help you determine the leads that you want to reach out to and also address them with the right outreach messages/emails.

How to identify your ideal customers?

I. Check the requirements that they need to meet:

  1. What are the job titles you would like to sell? CEO, Founder, Marketing Manager, etc.
  2. Which geographical location(s) would you like to target? Cities, states, regions and/or countries.
  3. What is the employee headcount of the companies you can sell to?
  4. Which type of industries would you like to target? As an example, ZenOutreach targets B2B companies but mostly agencies and SaaS companies.

II. Other requirements to check:

  • Employee structure of the organization: for example, they need to have an in-house marketing team.
  • the type of product/ service sold by the company: for example direct manufacturer.
  • a mutual goal: for example, a company that cares about improving its brand awareness.
  • Budget: do your target clients have the budget to pay for your product/service?

III. Search in your actual customer base:
Who are they? What do they have in common?

IV. Check your competitor clients base

V.Understand the path and pain points of your customers:
By asking yourself the following questions:

  • How can I provide a solution to my clients' problems?
  • What are the goals of my target customers?

Would you add anything else to this? :)
