Do You Have Experience With an Intranet?

As part of some research for our product Woffice.io, I'm trying to figure out if SMBs and indies would be interested in putting together a flexible, one-time fee intranet/extranet portal using WordPress.
Could be for calendar, project, time management, or simply for sharing files, wiki-base, or forum.
My question is: do you guys have ever used some kind of collaboration with your team or even with your VA or clients?
Would you be interested? What kind of use-case would you have in mind?
I used confluence as my intranet.
