Hey there, I wanted to ask fellow indie hackers how difficult it was for you to build a community of users around your startup? What tools did you use to attract people to share their feedback with you in order to better find a market fit.
Cheers,
Tools I use to build communities:
Comedy / Emotional Tone
Visuals
Respect
Us vs Them
Here's an article I recommend a lot to people starting communities:

Hope this helps! :)
Thanks! That said maybe you can share tools you use to deliver your messages to your members and in general over what medium does your community communicates. Email list, slack channel, IRC or something different.
I think the tool depends more on the type of community there's different pros/cons to Discord vs Slack vs Zoom vs Newsletter vs Reddit vs LinkedIn vs etc
I manage/mod on 3 Discord servers so I'm definitely biased XD but I've been in really great Slack, Reddit, etc communities
If you're B2B you'd might want to create a community on LinkedIn or (if you have a budget) Facebook while joining communities on Reddit
If you're B2C or a more personal kind of B2B then Email, Text, Discord, or Slack might be better
I know an entrepreneur who keeps his community together manually by continuously starting new email/text groups connecting people who can benefit from each other.
Also one note when I think of community I think of the ability for parties to communicate with each other so I focus less on "delivering messages" and instead focus on providing beneficial interactions
When I think organized delivery of messages I think email or text list (though Discord and Slack announcement channels are great for this but in general people check these platforms less than email and text)
Great summary there. I also believe it is important to create value with these interactions. Instead of wall of text of announcements it is more valuable to have a way for people to engage in the whole building process.
Definitely agree! We usually mention news, upcoming events, community happenings, and key member happenings to help keep announcements engaging
