Do you know any popular open source desktop app with a business model?

I'm working on a product for developers in a specific niche where most people are adverse to closed source products.

This made me start thinking if I should open source my app as well. But if I do, I'd like to have a sustainable business model from the get go.

It's not a web application, so I can't offer a hosted SaaS. This is a desktop app that people can simply download and run on their machines, no login or any "cloud" features. The app has a free trial and then requires a license key to activate it.

I thought of getting some inspiration from what others have done. As a developer, do you know or use any open source desktop app that requires a license key or has some other sort of business model?

Thank you ☺️
