Do you leverage your existing customers to be your product promoter/affiliate?

Does anyone leverage their existing customers to bring on new customers, or perhaps offer existing customers some sort of monetary reward (discount, rebate, etc.) to talk to potential customers?
If you don't, what's stopping you from doing this? Any thoughts or concerns?
If you do, what's your approach?
We've just started piloting an affiliate program.
We've seen cautious demand so far.
What has worked for us is a discount code we offer to vest a full-scale subscription, based on referral usage at a later stage.
We created an in-house tool for the discount codes and we found out that can be interesting as a standalone feature to create discount coupons in bulk!
I guess we can consider it a WIN-WIN🎉🎉🎉
Interesting. I assume by affiliate program you mean with external parties that aren't your customers.
Have you considered offering referral programs to your existing customers, or incentivize them to talk to new signups that are potential customers?

Oh, definitely. I’d hit up any long time users and ask them to share the product. Maybe even offer them a referral commission.

It was a mix. Some users straight up ignored the emails, and some said “maybe”. But plenty of users agreed, and most of them generated a lot of new users for us.
Nice! Have you noticed if the new users asked your existing customers questions before signing up or convert to paid users? I'm wondering if it's helpful to connect existing users with new users to encourage conversion
