Do you mail a microphone to your podcast guests?
I've heard a couple podcast hosts say they mail/loan a high-end microphone to each of their guests that doesn't already have one. I'm wondering if this is standard practice or just a luxury of the more successful podcasts.
Not the norm. I have a podcast and have been a guest on 3 podcasts. I called in. Calls crystal clear. Zencastr is a great service for this.
We've done that for people who create courses for us (at Ministry of Testing), but not for podcasts, unless they will be committing to doing a few.
Do you mail them yourself or do you rely on some kind of third party service?
Ship straight to them from supplier (normally Amazon).

Saron from codenewbies has an article about how she loans microphones. One thing she mentions is that she only loans to people in the US because international shipping is too expensive.
I don’t think this is the norm though. The majority of non studio recorded podcasts I’ve listened to have varying sound quality for the guests.
