Do you need a big name hunter for Product Hunt launch?

All of the hunter's followers don't get notifications like they used to (which used to be the main draw). I got #1 of the day, we had a hunter, and I didn't think it was necessarily worth it but it's free so why not?

I made a Twitter Thread of some other things to think about though.

For what it's worth I think if you make a fantastic product and do a great job presenting it having a hunter won't make that much of a difference...

I wouldn't wait that someone hunts the product, unless you have a really strong personal branding, social media presence or know some really cool people you could eventually ask to hunt your product.

I hunted myself, and the results were not that great. Tho Product Hunt says you don't need a hunter, users get notifications once someone they follow hunts a product, so I think hunter matters.

You really don't need one, I've always self-hunted and often make top 5. The main benefit of having a hunter, as far as I can tell, is getting a little extra boost when they share your product with their audience.
