Do you need to add AI to your product?

The questions I asked myself and many other founders and indie hackers probably ask.

Disclaimer: I am not an AI expert :)

I dive into thinking about it in September when we got in the top 20 Slush. I prepared for the pitch and look at expanding my horizon of what the future of our product can be. I came across this article about Generative AI and Tech from NFX https://www.nfx.com/post/generative-tech and that is when it striked me:

"Every no-code builder will become the generator"

Webflow --> AI-generated website builder
Bubble --> AI- generated application builder
Typeform --> AI-generated forms

After the ChatGPT release, without hesitation, we decided to experiment and add ChatGPT outputs to our forms and flows builder. We generated the most effective forms to convert more leads for different fields and added them to our builder with NO-CODE.

The results were pretty great, users generated forms, and we got #1 on Product Hunt.

So, if you think about the synergy between AI and your product here are my NOT expert thoughts:

Why add AI to your product?
πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ Find the fast-moving water
I was in EdTech for a while before, and when COVID hit edtech became the fastest growing field. There was a lot of investment in EdTech and interest. Everyone in the field got a lot of benefits, but mostly smn who were there for a long time. Great article about the Fast Moving Water
https://www.nfx.com/post/find-the-fast-moving-water

πŸ’‘ It will become a standard.
So, there are certain expectations on the market, and with ChatGPT's crazy success, AI as a part of any product will become a standard.
Further on, your customer will ask you, is it made with AI? Do I generate it myself? Why do I need to write this text? :)

πŸ’« It can really give a super POWER
You can help increase the Wow effect and automate basic things in your product.
Let's say forms, anyone who wants to build a form for a specific need if does not know which questions to ask would need to search first or ask ChatGPT:) If it is a part of your product then users will not leave and get extra value inside.

Customer support is one of the fields in which I also see huge potential and stories from founders about how to automate customer requests with AI just support this.

What are the options for your product and business to add AI?
πŸ’‘ Use AI to automate processes (Support, Email, Programmatic SEO, Visuals)
πŸ’‘Add it as a feature in your product and test
πŸ’‘ Pivot to AI-driven product
πŸ’‘ Build a new product with AI at its core

Great article Iuliia, we added AI technology to Userdoc and have seen great results. Our customers are loving the time it saves when writing user stories, journeys, and personas.

It also adds an element of fun to software requirements, which I think is appreciated πŸ˜†

I also started thinking that making a Bot or chrome extension that can read any AMA threads and give a hint to the user if a NEW question that is being asked has already been asked before or not. But I was wrong. A simple search can give u that.

I think as long as the AI you're using is stable enough and can scale, it certainly wouldn't hurt to add it. I think AI will start to pop up on more and more services, especially since ChatGPT got huge

Yep, with ChatGPT API I think it will be pretty stable.

That was my second point, it will become a standard to have it as a part of any software in different forms.

Right now, I'm building a really small e-commerce to sell sunglasses, but I was wondering if there any tool o start-up who is creating models to wear clothes or in this case glasses, I think Ai could help me a lot

      Check this out https://www.futuretools.io

There are many AI tools gathered and maybe you can find this one.
But it is a pretty cool use case.

Great question to ask. Especially with AI being popular now it can lead to feature bloat.

Best use case might just to be building a tool around AI instead, for example, building an image generator with Evoke

      Good thoughts Richard.

I think every founder need to ask it and yes made decision what role AI can play in their business.
