Do you publicize your MVP or your vision?

Just trying to get opinions on whether you're just selling your MVP at launch, or are you selling the the grand vision (starting with the MVP)?

How do you package that message?

An MVP should be the smallest thing that solves the customer's main problem. So, if you do that successfully, your early adopters will be more than happy to buy your MVP.

If people aren't happy with your MVP, you either haven't found a problem that hurts enough, or you haven't identified the right early adopter group.

    Best of luck!

      That makes total sense, thanks!

I agree with @Kevcon80. The MVP definitely is about the solution to the problem you're trying to solve. In the way I've thought about my ideas, I found myself being seduced by the vision, and the more I thought about the vision, the more I realized 2 things:

    • the vision goes in multiple directions
    • I don't take action because of the above.

In the case of an indie hacker, I believe that course of action is to stick to small but concrete MVPs. You can sell the vision, but not without the main solution being built.

      Are you spying on me?
Seriously though, I can totally relate to that.
