Do you share emails you receive?

At the bottom of emails, sometimes you see social share buttons.

So you can easily share the email on social media.

At times, they also ask you to share the email to your friends.

I'm curious.

Do you share emails to (1) social media or (2) forward them to friends or (3) no?

Social share links are one of those things that creators want in their emails but actually get rarely used. Much like social share icons on blog posts too.

We have a few newsletters on our platform (gossip/news led) which do get some shares but even in those cases tend to be a screenshot these days which is the preferred format to share on social.

      Thanks for sharing!

I never use the social share tools on an email, and almost never forward them either. My typical move is to go to the web version and share a link from there. Not sure why I do that tbh.

Do you share the web version often?

I consider myself a curator, so yes I'll often share from the web version, especially if you make it easy by having a share tool or showing me your social handles. But the content has to be elite level.

I do not and probably never will. I do occasionally forward emails to friends or fellow indie hackers though.

      Thanks for letting me know.

If I read something valuable to a friend or colleague I can think of, I forward them.
So far, I've never shared an email to social media, except if it's a referral link to earn some incentive (did that with Morning Brew and Marketing brew)

Got it. Thanks for your opinion.
