Do you struggle with bookmark organization?
Do you use a service like Pocket or Instapaper? Do you find it a struggle to keep your tags organized?
I'm thinking about building an AI-powered bookmark manager. The selling point would be you just bookmark a site and the software would organize it for you.
Is that something you would use? What would you pay for the service? What would you expect for free?

You should definitely check mailist.app :) It creates a personalized newsletter composed of the bookmarks you saved for later.
My problem with bookmarking service is that I can't use them with context.
What I mean is that , almost all bookmarking app has a feature link listing and link grouping.
But none have an option of booking along with notes.
Say for example I am trying to learn about SaaS. I must have a capabilities to create an article and start writing notes ... And then be able to add links where ever necessary.
Then these links have been bookmarked around a context and information flow.
I have thought of this too. Discovery is another problem. I'll bookmark something to read later, and then forget about it 😬

You can connect your links to your notes for context association - this allows you to create knowledge bases for projects & research topics.

I use Pocket, raindrop.io and hypothes.is. All are free (but I donate to the latter). The search function is usually enough to find what I'm looking for so I don't worry about organization.
Quick question, what’s the reason for using all three?
Pocket for saving articles to read later while browsing/working/on mobile.
Raindrop for saving the best bookmarks.
Hypothesis for highlighting/annotating articles/papers/PDFs and sharing them.

Great question! I built my product Recollect (https://recollectapp.co/) to solve this issue for myself actually. I found that I'd save links to Pocket but then rarely remember to check pocket and use my links.
My app is a Chrome extension link saver & productivity dashboard that opens automatically in your new tab page - I can see & search all my saved links in the dashboard and I never need to remember, it's just always there.
My app has note + link association to build knowledge bases by connecting them. I think AI association might be a bit overkill, but I'm looking into adding different filtering options in the future, like "youtube videos", or "articles.

I struggle with syncing bookmarks accross different browsers. I use Chrome and Safari and this frustrates me.
this is interesting, why two different browsers? one for home and one for work? or do you have a different setup
Because I need Chrome Dev Tools on Chrome for web development but it is very slow for me on Mac so I occasionally switch to Safari
Ah yeh the good ole chrome eats up memory on my computer reason.
yeh I'm with you on that one, I've been wanting to switch to Safari but for whatever reason I can't. I think once Safari supports all of the extensions I use on Chrome I'll be able to make the switch
I can't speak for Viktor, but for a while, I had the same problem. I had to use Chrome at work, but I prefer Firefox at gome
I've been using Pocket since 2015 I think..And in the last couple of days decided to switch to instapaper, purely for change purposes. So I plan on exporting my 6000 articles to Instapaper later this afternoon and spending the next few months categorising articles and deleting those that no longer resonate.
So to answer you question I don't think I'd want AI/software to categorise my bookmarks for me as:

Interesting, you use Pocket / Instapaper to curate useful articles you read? (not things you want to check out?) Going through 6000 articles seems like a daunting task.
How to do revisit saved content? Like if you're interested in a topic, do you search in your library, or mainly browse it to discover things you found interesting before?
Very daunting. Its now 4pm and I still haven't started 😓 Though in my defense I did have to run some errands and do food shopping.
To revisit saved content I just open pocket and browse through. Or, if I want to read about a particular topic that I like e.g personal development, recipe, sustainability etc I just select the tag I created and read through a few of the articles that resonate.
Ive thought about this a ton and also wondered why this problem isn't solved yet. Then I read the hundreds of posts that discuss this and basically my take away is that natural behavior for most users is to re-search information they need as opposed to remembering and finding what they have already read.
As a counterpoint, personally I want to bookmark things because they are high quality or have an interesting perspective. Searching on Google gives you answers, but are extremely SEO optimised and you can't really find "thoughts" people have on topics.

I use bookmarks pretty frequently and i do have this problem but i would not use an "AI" solution to find my bookmarks.
IMO the issue is mainly the UI. The best solution i've found so far is raindrop.io
I use raindrop to keep track of my bookmarkers across diferent web browsers.
I self-host wallabag and it includes tagging and full text search for the pages you’ve saved. It’s missing an official, or seemingly good, mobile app otherwise it’s pretty complete.
The bookmarking space is pretty tough. I’ve tried to build something in this space years ago. It’s fun because you’ll build something you’ll use, but it’s difficult to pull users away from other services and build a business.
I'm using pinboard and it's been very useful so far!
