Do you struggle with video content creation? We did. Here is our story and what we decided to do with it.

Struggle we had for half of a decade

Some time ago, I shared a long article about how a small bootstrapped company like us can produce content to get attention, trust, and brand love and still focus on building great products.

I have touched on this topic now and then for over six years now. I believe content can be powerful for a small business, and I am not talking about becoming the next GaryVee or Pewdiepie.

But if you manage to upload one video weekly to YouTube and chat about stuff you do, it can spark big things. And it did for us, but I can share that yet (oh, that's a good segway to follow me here on IH, it's an incredible story that I can't wait to share).

But even after writing that long article about how you can sit down alone or with your team and share all of this, it's been a challenge to produce it weekly.

You need to prepare what you are going to talk about, set up the recording equipment, record everything, do the whole postproduction thingy, and then distribute. And ideally, you want to repurpose everything into smaller pieces for your LinkedIn, etc.

Iterating product we believe is going to solve the problem

So after a year of building Welder 's local recording solution that helps you record remote interviews remotely in high quality but leaves you with separate files from each participant, and you need to do a ton of postproduction, we decided to build Welder Studio.

I figured out that having the interface of StreamYard and Restream to record and stream video is a great way to live produce videos that look amazing. You switch layouts live, set dominant speaker here and grid view there, change overlay, display comments, and in the end, you have epic-looking video.

But it happens that you need to edit some parts out. For example, you have some issues while starting the stream, and you don't want to have that in the video you repurpose on YouTube or in an audio version for your podcast.

That's where text-based editor tailored to long-form spoken content comes in. It's so much easier to edit a video with text when it's 1 hour of speaking. You can search by the keywords and quickly scan through the text for a specific part.

Now you streamed the content and interacted live with the audience, your long-form piece of content is ready to be uploaded on YouTube and as a podcast, but that's not all!

With a text-based editor, it's simple to drag & select a specific part and export it in a different format as micro-content for you linked in.

Maybe your guest said something super smart, and you want to cut it out, add subtitles, logos and send it to them so they can share it on their social media.

We wanted a tool to do all of this all along! A tool to save us hours of work to produce content, interact with an audience, and create awareness loops with our guests.

And last week, we released part 1 - the LIVE Studio, which is streaming software in your browser that also records and vice versa.
