Hello Indie Hackers!
Following my previous thread asking you What do you hate most in API onboarding experience?, I'm here today to show you what we have been working on at Blobr for the past few months!
After many interviews, research and in-app tests, we managed to discover that one of the best ways to improve the API consumer experience is to have an API portal. It allows an API provider to centralize all information related to its API like documentation, credentials etc. and to ease the process of integration of their API. But in some way, it requires time and money to build that API portal and maintain it over time.
I'm really excited today to launch my first product on Product Hunt: Blobr, the no-code tool to create your branded API portal, featuring all you need to simplify your API experience!
Any support is welcomed for our launch on PH 🙌, but more importantly, do you think an API portal is a good solution to enhance API onboarding?
I can totally relate to this. In my previous company it was a nightmare to share APIs. I am a PM myself and I can totally relate to the issue. I could not get an API portal because there was no time and budget for it on the IT side. It created a lot of frustration as I had to be in support with clients and partners. So everything improving the experience of APIs is welcome...
In my personal experience, I think that most of the time companies don’t have an API portal but just a documentation looking like a dictionary + a « Getting started » section. And for the few that has an API Portal, I have to admit that you usually have a better integration experience with testing features, reset credentials etc.
Very interesting, that is also what we also noticed during our research.
