Do you use a proposal / quote software or you go for Word/Docs/Slides?

Hey fellow freelancers! Lately I'm seeing a lot of tool for writing proposals or quotes.

Although I understand their pros, I don't think it makes sense paying a monthly fee for a product that I might use 2~7x per month. I have a template in Google Docs and always use it as a base for new proposals or renewal proposals.

Maybe these products resonate with sales departments, not freelancers (even those that are marketed as apps for freelancers like Bonsai).

I mean, I see that these apps have traction, but do they with freelancers?

I'm building Remotime - a tool for freelancers to track their time, tasks and invoicing.
ito proposals: it's definitely on the feature roadmap, but I don't think it warrants a product all on it's own.
Remotime is about tracking all your freelancer activities in a single place, eventually with analytics to support proposal history / invoice conversions etc. - I believe that is worth paying a monthly fee for ;)

I've always stuck with a classic Google Doc or short Slides presentation, personally. Most freelancers I know are in a similar boat.

Yeah, same with me. I struggle to understand who really pays for this kind of software for a whole year. Can't be the freelancers.

I was thinking about creating a quoting tool with a more reasonable pricing. Even then, I ask myself if I would pay for such a tool.

I do proposal and scope in a slide deck but will then discuss numbers and pricing via email and that seems to work for me.
