Do you use Slack at work?

I have become quite interested in creating a Slack app! The reasoning is as follows

• I use Slack at work, and I think there are always ways you could either improve the experience, or make it more integrated with other things going on.

• There is a lot of value inside of a Slack workspace in the collaboration that happens, the information stored there, and the alerting / organizational aspects

• But Slack is fast and loose, kind of disorganized chatter (mostly!)

My initial idea is that it would be useful to turn the information inside slack into documentation. So roughly this would look like:

• Pick some channels
• Set up some rules e.g. if "person X" writes a message in "channel Y" containing "Z" then this is important, so include it
• Run the rules, and collect the information, and then present this in some nice medium. Could be HTML (most likely at first) but could send it to OneNote, GitBook, Confluence or Notion, etc.

You then have your docs.

Examples might be new starter announcements (so you can see who joined the company, when and about them), new releases of the product, things specifically marked "Document this!" ... perhaps after the fact that someone realized it was useful.

Would be interested to know what you think. Specifically would you like me to set this up for you at your work and try it out? I could build a prototype quite quick.

And regardless of that, are there any Slack apps you would like to exist at your work.
