Hello!
I build web applications every day for people as a freelancer developer.
Most of the time these are simple CRUD apps designed to capture some kind of business work flow or kick off a process but recently I have noticed a trend in what my customers have been asking for resulting me building some very similar functionality into multiple applications.
The basics of it is that businesses want to share documents and links in a dashboard which can be added to over time.
This means that the customers documents are always in one place, no emails back and forward with attachments, no dropbox or Google drive.
They are branded nicely and in some iterations I have added comments or the ability for the users to even send documents back.
I have been exploring the idea of breaking this into it’s own product which I have given the title Docflow.
For my MVP I am looking to build a web application where a user can create a branded dashboard (their logo, band colours etc) and upload documents and links with descriptions.
Once the dashboard has been created they can then share this as a public link or invite users using email addresses.
Luckily I have already worked out a number of the technical part of this project on earlier iterations so most of the work to be done on this is to brand/market it in a way where potential customers can see the value.
I have a few ideas as to industries that may find a product like this useful e.g:
Once I have launched the MVP to my existing customers and given them the ability to play around with it/give feedback I have been thinking about future features that may be useful e.g mobile apps, Zapier integration and paid access to board.
Does anyone have any feedback on this idea?
The areas I am pretty weak in are how to price/market something like this and would be greatful for any resources anyone can share that might be able to help with this.
Thanks!
Chris
