But most people aren't typists and a boost in clicks per minute would not objectively create a measurable change by itself as it's not usually a big percent of time spend. Also learning to type faster might be bigger improvement than the keyboard itself, but most that want a different keyboard have a reason even if it is subjective it could be valid

Shorter key stroke is objectively scientifically faster and less of a pain on others.

absolutely, I used a mechanical keyboard before, the experience was hard and tough, I use Logic MX keys keyboards right now, it is designed for typing, I recommend you creators use this kind of soft keyboard. It can really boost your typing speed! 👍
Question is what is a good keyboard. Like many these days I was also in the mechanical keyboards (mk) rabbit hole and went back to a 10 bucks random chiclet keyboard. Why:
Where I spent tons of time though, is the config of the keys (on Windows you use autohotkeys and on mac karabiner). Then it's your tools, which editor, etc. Once you use stuff like vim/nvim remapping happens all the time and your productivity skyrockets. This takes months to years but at some point you can code your ideas in that second. So yes it's important to get this man machine interface called 'keyboard' efficient, not the physical aspect but the mapping and the downstream software tools like your editor. At some point also your OS. The more your code the closer you want to be at the machine, then stuff like linux based OSes or WSL get interesting.
ps last tipp: try to get used to an ansi keyboard (US-layout). you can work with other local layouts but 3 decades of software history are based on ansi and even if you can remap everything it's good to start with sane defaults. It's usually easy to use local chars through a US layout, windows and macos have good support through special key combos.
Absolutely yes. I got a mechanical keyboard a couple of years back which is very similar to the old IBM-PC/AT keyboards that I used to use decades ago. Far more comfortable for my hands and I suffer way less fatigue and am able to type a lot more accurately. This leads to a big boost in productivity and happiness during long hours of coding.
Yes! I got a really loud mechanical keyboard and now I have to finish work as fast as possible in order to not disturb my girlfriend or neighbours at night.
It sure did for me. I have always been a fan of mechanical keyboards, and once I had the chance to buy one, I did and it was great. The feeling of the switches I use is amazing, could write code all day with it :)
I just use my MacBook Pro and I love the keyboard. I don't think with a bad keyboard my productivity goes down. It's humane that with time we get used to whatever option we have and the productivity stays almost the same.
