Hey IH Fam! 👋
Here's my use case:
Knowing that consistency is key to creating quality content and building audiences:
I am looking for a way to set goals (publish 2 YouTube videos per week, publish 1 blog post, post weekly building in public updates to our product page here on IH, etc. etc.)
And then something to track not only when those goals are met, but also it would be AWESOME if I could incorporate the metrics from those posts (views, comments, retweets, etc.).
Does anything like this exist?
I guess I could use some sort of to-do app for the goals and then some sort of metrics/dashboard tool with APIs for the metrics/performance...but it'd be way cooler if someone already built this...if not, here's your new project idea - I'll be your first paying customer! 😂
There is a great feedhive.io for Twitter by @SimonHoiberg.
As I know, they plan to expand to other platforms in the future.
Awesome - thanks a lot for mentioning me.
Definitely something we'll look into 😁
@leits thanks for the rec! and Thanks @SimonHoiberg for chiming in. Just checked out the landing page and watched your product video - I really liked that you hammered home (not once, but twice) the importance of consistency. For me, that really resonated.
In catering to content creators, my big platforms are twitter, LinkedIn, here on IH, and YouTube. So was hoping to see YouTube on the "upcoming" list 😁
@SimonHoiberg what would you say you and your teams biggest differentiator is from something like a Hootsuite or a Buffer?
I'm really happy to hear that it resonated well with you.
There are a lot of tools out there that tend to promise a lot in terms of "superpowers by exploring secret metrics" and so on.
We try to be honest about the fact that valuable content and consistent posting are what will make a difference. And we really want to see people grow - that's exactly why we've set out to ease this (already heavy) task.
As opposed to Hootsuite and Buffer, we're trying to focus on the content creation experience.
This includes a powerful editor, inspiration templates, easy access to old creatives with the ability to recycle by the click of a button.
Later, we will support the ability to create reusable templates, and even share templates with other FeedHive users.
Also - in all modesty - our platform is just more "up to date".
We have a lot of users praising us for our UI/UX - how it's not "ugly and clunky" like Hootsuite and Buffer 😉
Besides that, we support more recent features from Twitter - for instance, the ability to schedule threads.
I'm super interested in hearing more about YouTube.
What's the use case? Because their editor for uploading and publishing video is really unique - and already comes with scheduling abilities.
Is it their new community posting feature that you would like to schedule for?
@SimonHoiberg First of all, thank you for the thoughtful post! Amidst your already crazy busy day as a startup founder, taking the time to write this tells me a lot about you as a founder!
I like all of the points you've made here. I'm pretty sufficient at the Adobe suite of tools so the creation of the content isn't necessarily where I have challenges - but tools like canva have made it super easy to create IG posts/info graphics/etc. and those tools have absolutely exploded in popularity - so I think it's really smart to focus on the creation part as well.
One kind of random thought that would be cool though for me is if there was someway to see what types of content are resonating and going viral amongst your users - user X created a post that looked like Y and it preformed extremely well - here's a template to use that can help you re-create that.
And then yes, biggest selling point for me is still the consistency piece. Something to hold myself accountable to meeting my targets and then being reinforced and motivated by the metrics behind the posts is big.
Love the competitive positioning and "best in class design" against hootsuite/buffer, would agree that their tools are outdated and cluttered.
On the YT use case, it's again not so much the scheduling/publishing piece, it's more so just holding myself accountable to meeting my own targets and goals of staying consistent with my postings. Also being able to respond to comments/like comments/etc. from a single application would be nice. That way I can just go to FeedHive to engage across all my channels.
Thank you for a very thorough answer.
This is actually very helpful to us - more than you think, 'cause you're mentioning a lot of things here that we've talked a lot about internally.
And this serves as quite a good validation of these!
I really appreciate your kind words 😊
Thank you.
I'm glad my ramblings could be of use! The IH community is a fantastic place for customer discovery/validation. If you ever need a beta tester for any upcoming features related to the things we've discussed, I would be more than happy to lend a hand.
My co-founder and I are ex-digital strategy consultants and we just started up a YT channel where we work with startups and indie hackers to solve growth, rev ops, and business strategy problems for free. We document our adventures and create content that hopefully helps even more founders/entrepreneurs.
We just announced a new series where we're working with 10 startups from 9 countries on all things pricing strategy.
Who knows, maybe there will be an opportunity for us to work with your team one day if there's a fit!
Here's our channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCRglDsIjBqpmNqFLtwiBK_A
Cheers!
I have seen folks use google sheets to pull data in.
Are you using an app like airtable, notion or code?
@volkandkaya yeah I could definitely go that route, I first just wanted to see if any indie hackers were working on something similar that I could support haha. Work smarter not harder, am I right?
Also I just got to do a little bit with a company called Rows. They're building a really cool product out of Germany - basically google sheets/airtable + super easy API integrations. If I build something from scratch, I will likely do it on their tool. They've got an awesome team.
Tagging @Reeatrows from their team!
Oops, sorry for the late reply! If you need any help or have questions on building the tool, let me know, happy to help :)
I'm working on something tangential- https://www.useproducer.com/
It's an app to help track all of the things around publishing content regularly (think episodic content like YouTube or Podcasts), and helping communication among team members as well as automating what can be automated. Finally, a hint of analytics.
It's not exactly "here are my goals, track those", but sorta is, if you use it as such.
Edit: also, saw your YT video. Nice stuff! I'm down to be on your show/YT/series/etc.
@davidwparker userproducer sounds awesome - the value prop definitely does resonate with me even with our 2-man team. If you are looking for beta testers or folks like me to give you early feedback, I would be more than happy to do so.
Also appreciate your support on the channel - we are new to this but loving the fact that we are getting to do what we love by helping other indie hackers/startups, but do so in a public way that allows even more folks to learn from what we're doing!
Awesome- I'll definitely ping you when the beta is ready.
BTW- emailed you as well! Cheers.
Awesome @davidwparker - looking forward to it. Enjoy the weekend!
