Does #buildinpublic work outside of tech?

I have a product-based company that is decidedly non-digital-tech (we make chalk for climbers) ... but my background is tech & I was wondering if #buildinpublic works for those types of companies. We have some interesting technical innovations but they're not digital tech / software. I'm putting the finishing touches on a new product line & I was wondering what you think about doing #buildinpublic posts for these types of products. Precedents?
