I stumbled upon a little PR success recently and I've been wondering, "How can I increase my luck here?" Reaching out to writers is a slog, but what about inbound interest?
The other day, I saw a tweet from a reporter lamenting websites w/o a /press page. It made me wonder if it could actually deter an interested blogger.
I'm genuinely curious if building a "press" page is a worthwhile idea or not. I'd probably include things like:
But is there anything else worth adding? Has anyone measure traffic to a page like this and noticed any real impact? 🤔
I've never seen anyone do this as a publicly facing page on their site, but this is more or less what we do for outreach. Writers seem to do well having everything packaged and handed to them. We have press@ email on our site and if someone reaches out, we auto-respond with an email containing much of what you described above.
Sounds like you could also have an About Us page that encapsulated this info similarly that simultaneously appealed to customers and the press at the same time.
That's a really clever idea to do the autoresponse. Have you noticed any success with it?
I'll probably throw up a simple /press page too just to see what happens, it's such a low effort task that I think it's worth testing, and could be something to link to for cold outreach
With some of the more niche blogs, it worked ok. For the big ones (like TechCrunch or The Verge), you truly do need connections or an amazing hook it seems.
