I know that once '.com' domains were much better for SEO, so it was very important to get a .com domain.
Today I see many (if not more) startups/side projects going for other domains like .xyz, .io, .ai, etc.
I'm wondering if it still makes a difference, and should I find a 'less catchy' name with a .com over a better name with a different domain ending ?
Maybe it is just me, but I love a good TLD.
Other tld domains are popular, but I think that name should be fairly unique nevertheless. Just to have less confusion in future. I usually try to target name that does not have competition in google while brainstorming - whatever domain tld.
