Does LinkedIn Inmail work

Anybody do cold connecting on Linkedin? Looking to do some research, & decided to give it try.

Sending both Inmail, and straight messages to see which works better

Anyone do something similar before & can share insights?

InMail works but costs and limited in impact. Why? Well your connects don't send InMail and so if you sending one the chances are you are trying to pitch something and people don't respond well to that. In fact I just posted a blog post on medium around the challenges. Connect request work better. In fact you can do quite a bit (targeting 50-100 a day) with LINKDRA. I schedule 10+ meetings via LinkedIn each week using LinkedHelper. I recently wrote a post about it.

Have not had much success with it. To work, each message needs to be highly personalized. I myself receive quite a bit of spam from InMail and starting to ignore it. I think others do too.

Even with highly customized, offering insights and multiple tiers, the win/loss ratio is tough.

Yes, Inmail seems to be increasingly saturated

I've done all of it. Especially for research, beta-testing and product trials. And, it's been pretty successful.

The message matters. InMail definitely gets more highlighted - and more emphasis (attention grabbing). But, for me, it's always worked better if the recipients get something in return, i.e. cash, freebies, work, etc.

Whereas direct messaging is usually a little more personal and people are actually really responsive. So, the reverse is true - if it gets too salesy, its just gets completely ignored.

      Thanks for your insights.

My sample tests have been really small. But I in mail has got not results. I am not selling anything, just doing a research for content I am creating.

It is related, to working faster. a daily newsletter about, things people are doing to work better.

Hah! I posted this same question last Sunday. You have free connects on the free tier. I am going to say about 12-15. You can send messages and when they respond, you get them back. I exhausted and asked the question here. I guess you've done the same. For a while it felt like "OMG free marketting. I can spend rest of the day doing this." Nope.

haha. Inmail is a bit weird. Most people ignore it. I think an invitation note goes straight to the inbox, have you tried that?

@Bsme - it works when you’ve a laser focused and personalized message as well as clear call to action. Template & sale-sy message is hard to get response and achieve your goals.

Given that you can only trigger a limited amount of InMail on LinkedIn per month. Be mindful on selecting the right audience group.

Suggestion: Test direct invitation, personalize the invitation note. Measure the success of your conversation, acceptance rate etc before you pay for InMail (super expensive for early stage startups tho)

All the best! Happy to exchange ideas on LinkedIn :)

I’ve been testing a invitation note with just hi NAME, it’s been going good

What does it mean by good?

I have been getting messages back
