Does POC need a prototype or a demo all the time?

I'm working on a startup idea and looking to apply to an incubator. The incubator had requested for a PoC or a prototype. Since the deadline to the incubator application is a month away, building a prototype would be difficult. Would like to know from you guys if i can instead do a POC that doesn't require a prototype or product demo. Would incubators accept such Poc? What all should the Poc include?
Hi @Amulya_prabhu, I don't know what incubators typically expect but we testet out the concept for our Team Mood Sharing app by creating a POC in Excel first.
I guess it depends a bit on how complex your product idea is.
