Hi, I would like to ask if someone uses FB ads or some other ads to promote their newsletter?
If so how much do you spend approximately per new subscriber?
I started recently a local newsletter and my budget for FB ads is about 20USD/day and cost per new subscriber about 1 USD...
It is definitely not ideal (I am not an FB ads expert) but since it brings new subscribers it feels like the right thing to do. Sure the word of mouth would be the best way how to gain new subscribers but I feel I need some audience, at the start, to keep myself motivated...
What are your thoughts?
Thank you
I've created ads for a different business to increase subscribers, but it was mostly to reduce taxable income. To see if it makes financial sense for you, you'll need to quantify the lifetime value of each new subscriber. That can be hard for a newsletter since the value can change as the size of the audience changes. For example, you might be losing money per customer today, but eventually the value could increase once you hit a certain number of engaged subscribers. A step-change in lifetime subscriber value could occur if you start promoting your own product, gain a sponsor, start selling ads, etc. It truly is a hard thing to quantify.
With all that said, there is something to be said for the intangibles. If more subscribers motivates you more to create a stronger newsletter, that could be worth more to you than what the finances say.
Thank you for your answer. You are right, I cannot really say now if it's worth it or not. I was just curious if someone does the same.
Right now it's really just about my motivation to send my words to more people. I bet that the number of active subscribers will be very small. Still, I hope I can get more feedback right in the beginning than with the slower growth.:)
That's completely understandable - best of luck on your growth! :-)
Thank you very much
It really depends on one question. Is your business is writing newsletters or you write the newsletter around any other product/service that you do? For the former, I think running ads on social media makes sense, but for the later probably your goal is to nurture your visitors or potential customers - so rather direct traffic to your site and find ways to communicate strongly why they have to subscribe to your newsletter.
Hi, thank you for your answer. Right now it is really just about the newsletter (the newsletter is the product). My website is just the landing page with the sign-up form.
I think this weeks newsletter is gonna be crucial. I will see if the "ads" subscribers are actually worth it and react to my content. If not I am gonna keep experimenting :).
@efran let us know how it goes :) good luck!
Thank you. I will :)
