Does the world need another book tracking app?

I’ve thought about this too! I also think goodreads don’t really address my needs and now track my reading in spreadsheets. My primary use cases are: to see a summary of how many books I started and finished so far this year (to get a feeling for if I’m on track with my reading goals), and to extract reading recommendations and conversational topics when a friend asks “read anything good recently”? I accomplish this with a column called “would recommend to __”, and a free form column to rant about my thoughts on the book. The key here is that the free form column isn’t written for an audience (as with goodreads), it is purely to record my own impressions. I think the only additional value that platformizing my spreadsheet would provide is that my friends would more easily see my recommendations. What I don’t like about the goodreads recommendations is that it doesn’t encourage you to elaborate what audience your recommendation goes towards. A book recommendation isn’t a boolean yes/no; people have varied taste. Too many dimensions are hidden in the star rating. Did they give it 2 stars because they didn’t learn anything new but they would still recommend it to their friend who isn’t an expert in the topic?

My answer is: it depends, I found readng and been pretty happy with it, assuming they will add features like tracking pages, progress and things like that.

If you have a very specific flow for reading it might be worth it but if you just generally wanna have an overview and or want to see what other people are reading the above is quite nice
