Does the world need another budgeting app?

I love the idea of budgeting apps. However I never seem to stick to using one for more than a month ever. There is an idea that I have which tries to keep me using a budgeting app for more than a couple of days. Do you think this is even worth a try?

Same here, manually entering the expense data on the app feels like a lot of work when I'm living the moment 😶
That's why I sometimes just send messages like "$4 lunch" to myself on messenger. Now I'm planning to make a bot that will take this data and plot them on a notion database.

I really like that idea. Theres this really cool startup https://stitch.money/ which makes accessing expense data really easy here in SA. I was thinking of building with this however something as simple as a bot where I can just quickly jot down costs seems exactly what will keep me using the app. You should definitely get cracking on that!

Hmm.. then should I make a public bot? Would anyone be willing to pay or if were only free?

the math in this case is easy.
your bot helps me to save $ hundreds to thousand a month by giving me the visibility off where the f I thrown my money, so paying $10 for it is easy to decide.

especially if i still use it in the 2nd month

Yeap true. Then I guess I can make it for public.
Would you like to connect on twitter/email so I can hit you up when I launch an MVP or something?

@devarifhossain Interested idea haha. Inputting is the most challenging problem need to be solved when building a budgeting app. Simply sending a memo to input sound oddly simple and worth to try

Yeah. Most people seem to like this simple idea. I wonder if I should try to crack a public version.
What do you think? Does the world need another finance bot? 😶

if it solves YOUR problem so why not 💪🏻

It is absolutely worth a try if you just make it different from the others.
And I don't mean different in a big way (by, I don't know, upending the whole concept of budgeting, or by considering savings negative debts or something else that's super weird).

In the past few years, I've tried out some personal finance (web) apps and bounced off most of them pretty hard just because quirks of the interface that I didn't like. I'm not talking about round avatars or stuff like that but things with how accounts are displayed or how transactions are entered that I just hated.

This is not something that anyone can ever predict. Some people like things a certain, some like it another way. Not everything is for everyone. I hate how Spotify looks and works, and there must be thousands of other people who agree, even if the majority of people don't.

You can tell there's a market for people who want their budgeting app to be just a bit different just from the fact that you and thousands of others gave up. It doesn't take much more than that to build a successful business, and even once you do, a dozen other people can build another budgeting app that won't even cut into your user base as long as they're not pure clones.

If you count me as part of the world, so yes.
I tried a lot of budgeting apps out there but end up give up around a month. And still trying to find the next one. And also think about building the next one.

So, if your future product can keep YOU more than a month, it's worth to try.

Agreed! I think its worth trying to pursue. Especially being a student still money seems to just disappear every month.
