I've searched this question all day. I couldn't find the answer anywhere. Basically, I'm wondering if your sales & marketing strategies change depending on if your product is free or paid. For example, imagine if Yelp wasn't free. Would their marketing strategies change? Are there certain marketing strategies that make more sense when your product is free? Do you need a sales team still if your product is free? Let me know your thoughts! Thanks!
How can you exist if everything is free?
Yelp is free to use as a consumer, not as an advertiser/store owner. FB is free as a user not as an advertiser. Are you saying no monetization anywhere? Not even commercial licenses or support contracts?
I'd struggle to say that it's a business and not a cause. Even non-profits generate revenue through donations and have sales/marketing teams to keep the lights on and further their mission.
We've built a custom targeted ad platform for local businesses. So the product is still completely free, but businesses would be able to choose if they'd like to run ads on the platform. That's how we'd exist. Does that make sense?
