It's nothing special but I needed a catchy title...
I run Postmake (postmake.io), a directory of tools and resources aimed at SMB founders and indie makers. We monetize by charging a one-time fee for listings.
I recently redesigned my "Submit your Startup" page and was wondering how it looks like to a new visitor. Most people will probably land on this page from the main directory, which means they'll have an idea about what Postmake is by the time they reach it, and we do get new submissions, but I'd like to know how well the page displays the value proposition to would-be buyers.
The page in question can be found here: postmake.io/submit
Hey there. Took a look at your link. This is just my opinion and I'm no expert copywriter or landing page guy, but I hope it helps.
My first impression at the top was there was too much copy on it and sort of had to force myself to read it. But I did think it explained the value prop pretty well. Maybe you can say the same with less words?
For example, you mentioned users landing here should already have an idea of what Postmake is, so maybe you can get rid of the line that explains what it is? Just a thought.
One nice thing I saw lower on the site was that my product could be featured on your newsletter. Might be good to mention that at the top somewhere? I think it is as good to know as the listing visibility.
I like that there's a FAQ. It helped answer some of the questions I had and I feel it was placed in a good spot on the page.
I think this is a good idea and I would not mind paying for exposure of my product. However from this page I have no idea what it costs. I personally hate not seeing what something costs clearly stated on a page. I don't want to have to fish around for the price. If I can't find the price within a few seconds of quickly scanning the page, I usually just close and move on. So maybe you can add the price somewhere so it's easy to find.
I hope this helps. Overall I think it looks good!
I also feel that the page is a bit too text heavy.
Thanks a lot for the feedback! Really helpful. You're right, I'll probably need to tweak the copy a bit to make it more approachable.
I never thought not mentioning the price might deter some users, I'll definitely have to look into that!
