Some weeks ago I started a quotes page for the MindfulDevMag to have some more food for the search engines.
Yesterday I noticed while writing a new page, that I did a stupid mistake of copy and pasting. Turned out I still hate a robots meta tag with noindex in it and the page was not indexed at all. Doh!
So, double check after copy&pasting and don't be as dumb as me :-)
You could have known it very quickly if you used Google Search Console!
Using Google Search Console is a must before you even start anything about SEO on your site!
Search console is nice but it takes time things show up there. Anyways, once I noticed it I could see it in GSC. Maybe there is a notification mechanism I am not aware of.
FYI - would recommend manually re-submitting the affected pages for indexing in Google Search Console. Sometimes, because its previously seen it as noindex, it won't bother indexing it again for a long time. So this is a short cut to get it to re 'see' the page.
I already did re-submit it manually and it is indexed now. Thanks for the hint nonetheless.
...if only there was a monitoring tool that crawled ALL of the pages on your site (regardless of robots.txt) and reported problems like this... :-)
Never looked for that. Do you know one? Preferably a desktop version with onetime payment.
Hi Jens, cool side. Will have a closer look tomorrow... I also recommend mindfulness as productivity hack for devs: https://www.michaelagreiler.com/developer-productivity/ really like your project!
Thanks, hope it helps and you enjoy it. Mindfulness is great. It helps me to cope with all the fears and anxiety involved with self-employment. It calms my mind and a quiet mind brings clarity and clarity is key for reaching my goals :-)
Put your article on my reading list for the evening. Maybe you'd like to write about your experience of mindfulness in an upcoming issue of the MindfulDevMag?
