"Domain Addicts" community
Hello to all fellow indie hackers.
If you are like me, full of ideas for new and exciting products and before you start to build them, you think about a domain name and if you find the domain name you buy it immediately because you fear that someone else will be faster than you and your idea is so unique that you are sure that you will use the domain, but then after a few months you realize, that you don't need the domain. Congratulation, you are domain addict. This diagnosis is very common yat the indie hacker community.

The community's goal is to help indie hackers with the domains addiction and encourage members and newcomers to trade their unused domains + provide knowledge on how to maximize profit from the selling of domain names.

Domain renting sounds scary to me.
People are often scared of things that they don't understand how works. But I think that domain renting will be a thing in 2-3 years!
Domain renting has been a thing for the past 20 years. The domain F1.com was rented to Formula 1 by the week.

I just joined! A little late to the party.
I just checked out the website. The idea of "renting" domains is an interesting one that I had never thought of... Is it exactly how it sounds? Would I just point the DNS to their server?

It's a little bit more difficult than just pointing a DNS to the right server. Imagine that you rent a domain from someone and he points the DNS to your server while the domain is under his/her control. It's dangerous for your business.
I like the idea of domain renting as well, and I have it on the roadmap for Upfordomain as a middleman service.
I recommend that you guys check some horror stories that can happen when you are renting a domain such as if your website is doing good, the owner of the domain can drastically increase the price of the rent or the price of the domain if you want to buy it at some point. The owner could also sell it while you are renting it and you are left with nothing. At the end, it's quite tricky to build and grow something that you don't fully own...Would you renovate a house that you are renting out?
With houses it's different. Renters can't claim that they own your house.
I see, that makes a lot of sense. I was thinking the same thing from a risk perspective.

You're so right about this, just keep at it! Growing a community from zero is tough work, but comes with a huge reward if you stick it out.
