Domain name is available is similar to one that is taken, what to do?

I'm thinking of purchasing a domain for a project which requires:

  1. a .com domain
  2. a very short and simple domain

I found one, let's say it's something made up like ceems.com. It's for sale for 5k USD, however, ceem.com (without the 's') exists and is taken by an active business that has nothing to do with my product.

Should I still go ahead with the available domain or not? What would you do?

    I like to think of it this way: if the problem you're solving attached to the name is important to that person, they might just do a quick google search for your product to find it (called "navigational keywords")

    They might go:

    1. "Hmm not what I'm looking for, different business, lets try google with the name"
    2. Then the keyword they enter is <your domain name> <industry/problem you're solving>
