Domain name not expiring. Expire date is 9 months ago. How could that be?

As the title says. There's a domain I'm watching which expired a while ago and it's not getting freed.

Get the whois record and contact the domain owner. Sometime domains are converted into premium domain by some registrar once it is expired.
But never tell them you own a business with same name or else you have to pay higher price if they exactly get to know why you need it.
Did you check different whois providers?
Maybe its error in one which you use.
Yep, checked the domain with 4 different whois providers.. unfortunately they all show the same data.
Interesting, I don't know why this happens but I imagine maybe it has to do with the registrar where the domain is registered OR possibly a TLD registry level protection. Could be that it expired & then the registrar took possession and tried to auction it? I'm merely speculating at this point, but the domain name aftermarket is an interesting thing & sometimes very confusing especially for premium names.
It is indeed a premium name!
I even built a private tool around it 6 months ago to increase the chances of purchasing it. I'm basically checking for the availability every 30 seconds.
I found a post that the longest time it took for a domain to expire was about half a year AFTER expiration date.
But it's not expiring and I didn't find any data on this unique situation anywhere..
Honestly, if it is a premium name like a one-word .COM I wouldn't expect it to expire & then be able to be hand registered. I would expect it to be grabbed by someone backordering it using dropcatch.com or you can check here too snapnames.com. You can check Dofo.com too, it's a powerful site for seeing what domains are for sale in the aftermarket & may have some legacy info for your domain in question at least telling you if you can "backorder" it or not.
