If you start working on your SaaS and then it feels like a waste of time, walking away isn’t failing. Think of it as just making room for better ideas.
I’ve quit SO many projects halfway through when I realized they weren’t worth the effort and they weren’t going anywhere.
But here’s the flip side: you should also finish your projects.
If you’re 80% there, ship it. I can’t stress this enough!
Shipping is a skill in itself, and it’s one of the most valuable things you can learn. I’d even say shipping is a muscle, and you have to train it.
And you don’t want to wait until you have your great idea to start building this muscle.
There’s something very specific about those final steps before a launch. The final polishing, the landing page tweaking, writing the announcement on social media and PH, deciding where to post it, and dealing with the post-launch feedback.
These are skills you only get better at by doing them over and over again.
I’ve launched things I wasn’t 100% confident in and even when something flops, you learn so much from getting it out the door.
Every launch is a rep in the shipping gym. Maybe the idea isn’t groundbreaking, maybe it won’t make a single dollar, but it’s not wasted effort.
It can prepare you for the moment you’re sitting on something truly awesome. And hey, there is also the chance that it will succeeded in ways you don’t expected.
