Don't build your landing page like everyone is doing.

As solopreneurs, when building your landing page,

be careful not to be too focused on the features of your product,

that you forget to connect with potential customers emotionally.

It is so easy to get lost in this thought loop-

"If I build it and it's great they'll come".

Here's the truth you don't yet realize-

Your potential customers don't want another product,

there are several others already doing what you are doing.

What they want is someone who understands their pain.

So how do you show them you understand,

while still positioning your product as the only thing that can solve that pain?

EMPATHY.

Empathy is key.

You want to make your potential customers feel understood,

let them know you are here to help,

and that you are not just another monthly subscription product trying to take their money.

Here are the four emotional reactions you want your landing page to evoke from your customers-

  1. "I know I have this problem or want to solve this problem"
  2. "This guy totally gets me, he just explained exactly what I am going through"
  3. "Oh, so this is what I've been doing wrong"
  4. "This is what I can do better and this product can help"

There are elements you can add to your landing page that can help drive home these reactions-(I guess that's for another post)

But if you are trying to stand out in an ever-busy market-

with an increasingly short attention span,

when you have a low marketing budget,

And would love to 10X your landing page conversions.

You should consider going a step further than what everyone is doing.

Highly successful brands use this simple idea,

why shouldn't you?

    I like the concept of expressing empathy on a landing page...but can you show an example of this? (I do completely get the 4 reactions you're hoping to invoke).
