Don't like my voice on training videos :/

Anybody faced similar problems when recording training videos?

-- Takes too many iterations
-- I don't like my accent
-- Fiverr, Upwork are expensive and take FOREVER

Did you guys have similar issues? Is it possible to record video and lay over a text-to-speech audio?

I can help you, I have a worse voice and I am happy to record something for you, so you will feel better about your voice!

Man, it is on your head. People have made millions on Udemy with far than perfect accents. No one cares. It is all about the content. Just post and move on. Best of luck😀

Thanks, that's probably the way to go. My concern was with corporate customers, they will for sure wince at it.

Would you wince at a foreigner in your country speaking your native tongue intelligibly but with an accent ?
Don't lose time and energy over this. It is all about the value. People pay for a service not for the way air moves through vocal cords.

Use AI cloning to make it sound like Morgan Freeman's voice.

      That's an excellent idea!!! :D

No get concerned about the accent, just be clear and you can use script to guide yourself. You can also use tool like descript to make the process a bit easier. Descript can also (generate speech from text) and replace the words that you think are not perfect.

      Thanks for the pointer!

By using this tool 'Text-to-speech-extension' you can record your voice and change it into any accent.

If you're ever concerned about your accent, two things from my end:

    • I could care less whether the speaker is native and sounds like the Queen, or whether they have a very thick accent. If I can understand it + if the content is valuable → I'm happy. Anybody claiming otherwise is just limiting themselves

    • Slavoj Zizek — google him, listen to him talking. I just LOVE his accent and he's crazy intelligent. I could listen to him talking for hours just for the accent. This might just be me as he's got a thick accent, but to me it's something I really enjoy 🤣

    You can do it Alex!!!!

EDIT: Oh and RE: takes too many iterations. I don't know if I'm an example, but what I try to do is I do all in one shot. I may pause the video with a keyboard shortcut, but I always do it in one sitting because I hate video editing, nor do I want to pay somebody for that until I see traction.

Again, idk if it's the right thing to do, but my plan is (and I'm suggesting it to you as an option): pushing through mistakes until I can do it 100% flawless in one go
