I tend to be interested in multiple topics, so this type of newsletter fits me well. Why Does Walmart Want TikTok?

With the US specifically President Donald Trump potentially banning the hot social media app TikTok, Walmart has teamed up with Microsoft to try and purchase it. That would be an interesting acquisition which would help boost sales and promote specific items to the younger TicTok audience
That version of the app, Douyin, which works much like TikTok but is available only in China, has become not only a platform for goofy videos but also an e-commerce destination with the kind of reach among young buyers that Walmart would love to have.
That’s why I think the Walmart thing is pretty interesting,” he added. “They can sell their cheaper products directly to that audience in TikTok.
Walmart is pursuing the acquisition at a time when it’s trying to better compete with Amazon. It plans to launch a membership program, called Walmart+, soon. The subscription-based service is the retailer’s answer to Amazon Prime, which includes original TV shows and movies.

How is GPT-3 Being Used?

GPT-3 is an AI software program, developed by the company OpenAi which is backed by Elon Musk. Essentially, the program scours the internet reading, learning, and interpreting human behavior. It continually seeks information improving itself over time. Popular use cases are, having GPT-3 write articles, or social media posts (without detecting it) even tweaking it to build websites via HTML & CSS. Another example of Pieter Levels using GPT-3 to post various startup ideas where users can upvote or downvote the idea.
Please upvote ideas that you feel are promising and downvote ideas that are bad, too vague, too obvious, or already exist. Ideas and their rating are fed back into GPT-3, so you (and others) constantly train the model what good and bad ideas are which improves the next ideas it comes up with! At least, that's the idea (aye!).

With the ongoing pandemic, things are changing so rapidly, it's really difficult to stay up to date. From case numbers to financial impacts, vaccination possibilities, and testing. In this short news article, the state of MISSOURI is taking steps towards a new saliva-based test. The less invasive testing method would be a welcomed change. The ease of use alone would be more attractive, and what better timing then when schools reopen or in some cases have already opened.

I love all things art, painting, photography, sculptures, and anything historical. This week's unique piece of photography is a photograph of the moon taken by Andrew McCarthy using an 8k camera. Zooming in you can the beauty of the surface, the markings of history through many craters left by meteoroids. Perhaps admiring something we see every day and take for granted.

This week's something interesting is Sequel the new movie theatre seat meant for a post-COVID experience. Features have built UV lighting to sterilize both the storage compartments and the seat itself. The 3D knitted fabric upholstery is hydrophobic, incorporates antibacterial copper threads, and is seamlessly woven to eliminate crevices that may act as dirt traps.
In today’s rapidly evolving entertainment landscape, it is essential for the cinema to offer an experience that is significantly differentiated from the growing streaming market. I think this type of initiative will help bring back views to the cinema while promoting the antibacterial materials.
