Do's and Don'ts of Self-Promotion on Reddit 😎

First and foremost, don't promote on Reddit if you don't need to. Yes, it's a great and free distribution channel, but it's also a tough audience that doesn't like being scammed or paying for stuff. Of course, this is a generalization, but after a few years on the platform, I feel comfortable saying so. 🤷

Sometimes, it's just better to run a quick ad campaign or use Twitter to validate an idea or promote a product. 🚀

Anyway, that being said, my relationship with Reddit is a love-hate relationship. Sometimes I wanna kiss it 😘, and other times I want to burn it to the ground 🔥.

So, enough talking! Let's dive into practical tips:

1. Be active in the subreddit. Posting a few posts isn't considered being active. Mods can view your karma distribution based on posts, comments, etc. So, make sure to be active in the subreddit before posting something promotional. 💬

2. Provide value for free. If Redditors encounter a paywall right away, you're doomed. People, especially Redditors, don't like to put their cards on some random person from Reddit. So, make sure to provide value before asking for any personal info or credit card. 🎁

3. Title matters - this isn't new to you, so I won't add anything further. 📝

4. Links can be flagged, so sometimes it's better to DM the links or put them in the comments. 📩

5. Double accounts are easily detected - not recommended. 🚫
