Vijith Quadros, a 31-year-old engineer from India, moved to Sweden eight years ago to pursue his studies. Over the years, he worked with startups, a Middle Eastern airline, a Swedish autonomous driving company, and even the government.
His journey into entrepreneurship began with a personal problem: how to dress for Sweden’s unpredictable weather during his outdoor hockey games. This inspired him to create howmanylayersidag.se, a website that recommends how many layers of clothing to wear based on the weather at your location.
Vijith built the first version in August 2024, launching it a month later. Early feedback was polarizing—people either loved it or dismissed it. He reached his first 100 users in just ten days by sharing the site within a professional network. Today, the site boasts over 11,400 total users, with 600 weekly visitors.
Marketing has been challenging. While TikTok and Instagram brought initial attention, they didn’t attract repeat users. Vijith later found success by sharing his personal story as an immigrant adapting to Swedish weather.
For now, howmanylayersidag.se has no business model—Vijith’s focus remains on creating something genuinely useful for people navigating Sweden’s ever-changing climate.
