Drop your URL for a brutal 30-second conversion roast (AI + Manual)

Hey IH,

I’m tired of the "looks great, man" culture in feedback threads. It feels good, but it doesn't pay the bills.

I just launched RoastMyLanding—an AI built to find the 10 specific reasons your landing page isn't converting. It looks at your headline clarity, CTA friction, and trust signals with zero filter.

Why? Because you’re usually too close to your own product to see the obvious friction points.

The Deal:
Post your landing page link below.

I’ll run it through the tool and reply with the most "brutal" piece of feedback the AI generated, plus my own manual take on how to fix it.

If you want the full 10-point report immediately, you can grab it here: https://roastmylanding.vercel.app/

Let’s see whose landing page can actually handle a roast.

Update: We just officially launched Version 2.0 on Product Hunt for #VercelDay! 🌶️

I've integrated a lot of the feedback from this thread into the new engine (especially the deeper conversion logic and faster UI).

If this thread helped you, I’d love your support on the PH page today:

    See you there! 🚀

Hey, i just created a landing page to get testers for my Saas platform. do you mind checking it out?

    1. 1

Hey, saw your site on the roast thread. A couple quick wins:

      1. Marketing intelligence layer sounds like work. Try: Stop wasting 10 hours a week staring at Ad Manager - lead with the outcome, not the feature.

      2. Your beta perks (free access) are below the Request Access button. Flip them - users should see the reward BEFORE the work. Mention Free beta access above the fold, then the form.

      3. Above the fold: One clear sentence about what Nvsn does + one benefit + one CTA. Right now I am not sure what happens after I sign up.

I build landing pages in 48h for early-stage products - 5 styles, real code, $500-1500. Happy to do a free hero section mockup. DM if interested.

That headline tip from Ayesha is gold. Media buyers just want to save time, they don't care how the 'intelligence layer' works.

Once you fix the headline, you should enter the Validation Arena.
It’s a $19 challenge to get your first paid users.
The winner gets a trip to Tokyo. >
Since we just launched, the pool is basically empty, so you’ve got a massive shot at the trip.

Hey! I just took a look at Nvsn.ai.Helping Meta advertisers "listen" to their ads is a great niche.

I ran it through the RoastMyLanding engine. Since I recently pivoted to a Freemium model, you can actually go grab your official overall score and the top 2 'Critical Repairs' for free right now!

Here is a sneak peek at what the AI found for you (the 'brutal' truth):
🌶️ The "Feature vs. Benefit" Trap: Your sub-headline mentions a "marketing intelligence layer," but for a busy media buyer, that sounds like "more work."The AI suggests leading with the result —like "Stop wasting 10 hours a week staring at Ad Manager."
      My manual takes:
You have a "Private Beta"with a fairly long form.If you want more testers, you need to make the "Beta Perks" much more prominent.Currently, they are listed below the "Request Access" button, meaning users see the "work" (the form) before the "reward" (free access).Flip that hierarchy!

You can get your full grade and the rest of the 10-point diagnosis here: https://roastmylanding.vercel.app/

Hope this helps you get those beta signups! 🚀

Budget Calculator for USA Trips – Need a "Landing Page" reality check
Hey everyone! I’m jumping in on this.

I built this USA Travel Budget Calculator (https://viajahoytips.com/calcula-tu-presupuesto-para-viajar-por-eeuu/) because I noticed many travelers struggle with the hidden costs of tipping, gas, and dining in the US.

The tool works fine, and I get some organic traffic, but my conversion (in terms of newsletter signups or deep engagement with the results) is lower than expected.

    I suspect I have a "presentation problem":

    Is the UI too cluttered?

Does the Spanish-first approach scare off international users even if the tool is intuitive?

Is the value proposition clear enough the moment you land on the page?

Be brutal. I’m looking to improve the UX to make it feel more like a "premium app" and less like just another blog post. Thanks!

    1. 1

Hey Mariela, the calculator is genuinely useful - but it is buried. A few fixes:

      1. Make the calculator THE page. Right now it is surrounded by blog text and 7+ nav links giving users 10 ways to leave before they calculate anything.

      2. Hero headline needs to scream: "Calculate your USA trip budget in 30 seconds" - big, bold, above the calculator.

      3. Add ONE trust signal: "Used by X travelers" or a single testimonial from someone who used the calculator. Users hesitate to input data into random tools.

      4. Language: If you serve both Spanish and English users, add a simple toggle. Auto-detect based on browser language.

I build landing pages in 48h - 5 styles, real code. Happy to do a free mockup of what the calculator-first page could look like. DM if interested.

    2. 1

The calculator itself is super helpful, but it’s buried in all that blog text.

Once you clean up the page, you should totally put it to the test in the Validation Arena.
It’s basically a $19 competition to see who can get the most users—winner gets a free trip to Tokyo. >
The prize pool is brand new right now, so your chances of winning the trip are actually really high.

      1. 1

Thanks for the feedback! You’re spot on about the calculator being buried—I need to give it more 'breathing room' and make it the hero of the page to get that premium feel. Regarding the Validation Arena, I'm currently focused on refining the UX before scaling my user acquisition, but I appreciate the heads-up. Good luck with the competition!

    3. 1

Hey! Just ran a quick audit on this. You’re right to suspect a "presentation problem"—you have a high-utility tool buried in a low-authority layout.

The Brutal Roast: Your page suffers from "Identity Crisis." You want it to feel like a premium app, but you’ve surrounded it with 7+ navigation links and a "blog post" header. You’re giving users 10 ways to leave the page before they even input their first travel expense.

      My Manual Take:

Kill the Nav: If this is a tool, make it a landing page. Remove the standard blog header. Every link that isn't "Calculate" is a leak in your funnel.

Hero Hierarchy: Your headline is tiny. It should scream: "Calculate your USA trip budget in 30 seconds." Right now, the text looks like an intro paragraph, not a value prop.

The Spanish/English Split: Since you asked—yes, it’s a friction point. If you want "Premium App" vibes, use a simple toggle or auto-detect browser language.

Score: 6/10. High utility, but the focus is scattered.

If you want the full 10-point diagnosis (covering CTA friction, trust signals, and SEO clarity), you can run the URL through the tool here: https://roastmylanding.vercel.app/ — it'll give you the deep dive immediately.

      1. 1

Spot on. I really appreciate the 'brutal' honesty—it’s exactly what I needed to hear. You caught me right in the middle of migrating the stack to Firebase, which is why the UI feels a bit like a Frankenstein blog-post right now. My goal is exactly what you said: stripping away the navigation 'leaks' and turning it into a clean, tool-first landing page. I’ll definitely take that 'Hero Hierarchy' advice to heart for the new build. Thanks for the roast!

        1. 1

Migration is the best time to fix these leaks! Firebase will give you the speed, but the layout will give you the conversions.

One last tip for the new build: Since you're going for that 'Premium App' feel, pay close attention to your Trust Signals . People are wary of inputting data into calculators unless they feel the tool is 'official.'

I just crossed 97 audits this week—once you get that new Hero section live, I'd love to see it. If you want the full 10-point 'blueprint' to guide your Firebase build so you don't have to guess on the UX, the full report is waiting for you!

          Good luck with the migration!

          1. 2

You're absolutely right about the Trust Signals. It’s easy to forget that while I know the data is safe, a new user sees a 'random' calculator and might hesitate. I'll make sure to add some social proof or 'as seen in' badges in the new version.

Congrats on hitting 97 audits! That’s a huge milestone. I’ll keep your tool in mind once the Firebase build is stable enough for a deep dive. Thanks again for the insights, Ayesha!

            1. 1

So glad the trust signal tip helped, Mariela! 97 audits turned into 100+ real fast—we actually just launched v2.0 on Product Hunt today! If you have a second to check out the new version, I'd love your feedback there: https://www.producthunt.com/products/roastmylanding-2?launch=roastmylanding-2-0

I ran into the same problem of friends being too nice and random survey sites giving junk responses. What helped a lot was running quick message tests on TractionWay — it puts my landing page / headlines in front of real people who don’t know me, and I get blunt feedback plus occasional leads from folks who’d actually use the product, usually within a few hours. The 7-day trial with a handful of responses was enough to see if my idea and positioning made sense before I spent more time building.

    1. 1

That's a fair point—real human feedback is great! But most indie hackers I know don't want to wait 'a few hours' or sign up for a 7-day trial just to find out their hero section is messy.

My goal with RoastMyLanding is to give that 'blunt' feedback in 30 seconds for $5 . No trials, no waiting for a panel of strangers—just instant, designer-level diagnosis so you can get back to building.

Still waiting for the first URL to roast in this thread! Who's brave enough? 🔥
