Hello everyone!
Recently, I met one guy working in e-commerce, and he said that it is not easy to monitor competitor's prices and adjust the prices of his own products accordingly. This is called dynamic pricing and I think it's adopted by many big retailers and e-commerce platforms. But according to him, this is something very important for the seller's revenue, but there is no way to do it automatically.
Do you think this is a good business opportunity?
sounds good with some value and easy enough to build as it a basic crawler description. the question is does any user compare those prices , between the tracked sites ? as correlation is not casualty. comparing a list of sites and prices is an easy task , but if you can prove the user actually compare and effected it would be even better.
I'm wondering if this is what some people want, why is there no web service to provide it? Just some people are using crawlers such as Octoparse and Apify for that?
There are so many ... for amazon there is a vertical of products and services dedicated to this.
If you can't easily find this tool for popular e-commerce platforms there are 2 questions : 1. scale of the need for this services 2. how hard is it to sell?
As a product i understand this : the service will find price gaps , create gap data and present it nicely. is there any other action is needed after this ?
How do you know which sites / pages to track and crawl ? crawling is a long time task as more sites and pages you track there is more updates to fix.. ( would suggest API / RSS for stability )
if you can find a design partner to help you build this and wrap it nicely as a service building MVP will be very quick.
Thank you so much. I think I should talk to the sellers who are currently doing this price comparison.
