Dynamically updating org chart for GSuite

Hey Philipp! I am pretty familiar with this need - and a big proponent of putting something in place.

In my most recent experience, it's at the 100+ person stage that individual connections start to become hard to keep up, and a company starts feeling "Large". So far from being just a novelty, I think a solid internal directory - and preferably one that can reinforce cultural values, design identity, or both! - is well worth the investment.

Here are a few breadcrumbs, not necessarily a complete recommendation:

• Do you have an HRIS tool? Where does HR plug in salaries, managers, etc, today? One example is BambooHR, which I can recommend. BHR has a built-in gsuite integration, and in our case easily became the "source of truth" for org chart (reporting lines, department names, that sort of thing). A featureful HRIS system great for a ton of other things of course.

• Slack purchased a company called Rimeto last year that I believe makes a turnkey product for this. I liked what I saw but never ended up using it. I think this could potentially be a more playful/fun option than something provided by an HRIS.

• You can roll your own, but, I'd discourage it. What will surely start as a fun hack week project will, if you're successful, become a critical internal app you need to maintain and extend - surely there are important things on the roadmap. Just my opinion of course. (Stripe wrote about their home-rolled "Home" app a while ago which probably sets the standard here; it certainly made me jealous not to have the resources to do the same..)
