Hey I am a high school student with a business, I have been building for half a year. What is the best way to go about finding people in my industry, and contacting them. #advicerequest
Do you have a website? I've actually seen some of your posts on Reddit, is the business called "Game Peach"? I'm wondering what sort of progress you've made, that might help us give better advice.
Yeah it is, that's crazy that you recognized us. It's in progress but not publicly available yet. Our progress is web development in progress, brand designing, test event we are running.
I'm not sure when you guys were planning to reach out to potential sponsors/industry people, but I would first focus on developing some sort of online presence -- it's hard to tell what progress you've made from an outsider's perspective. I'd actually recommend using Makerlog (http://getmakerlog.com/), it's great to show how an idea is progressing as well as get feedback and develop fans from a community. @sergiomattei is the creator of that, I'm sure he could speak more to it 😃
This for sure! Try out Makerlog, you won't regret it!
Hi Ethan,
Can you share your website with me?
or
You can use a tool like AeroLeads.com to connect with the individual or an organisation who can help you to expand your business effort.
Hey there - I think it very much depends on the industry. Can you share any more info?
But as a general rule of thumb, (I would) find out where they hang out, and go hang out there. Understand the platforms that you/they are using and figure ways to get in contact in a 'nice/ethical/honest' way.
Or try the cold email way like @dbrereton says.
Yeah, it's gonna be in the Esports industry. We are gonna be running a league that high schools sign up with and compete
Hey there, do you have more specifics about what kind of industry, and what kind of business this is? That'd make it easier to help.
As a general tip, I'd recommend searching the companies up, finding out who works there from the about pages, and using a service like hunter.io to get their emails. Then send tons of cold emails.
Yeah, I agree with cold emailing. Although my perspective is that "quality over quantity" might be a better approach. Eg. instead of sending out a ton of cold emails, do some research into the people to figure out who makes the most sense to email. I'm working on a poker app and recently had some success cold emailing poker players who appeared on poker podcasts.
Yeah definitely spend some time on writing quality emails instead of spamming everyone with the same thing. Ideally you can do both quality and quantity.

Awesome, so who are you having trouble reaching out to? Sponsors? Or other students at different high schools?
Sponsors mostly because I feel like just emailing corporations like Gamestop, Fries Electronics will be a waste of time and be ignored.
I'd look at other esport competitions/leagues and see who sponsors those, then reach out to them. For this audience specifically, I think cold emailing would be the way to go.
Not sure if there's a place where potential esports sponsors hang out online. Maybe @rosiesherry has more thoughts on that.
yeah, i just wish i had a bigger list of people to contact. it’s difficult
