First Customer
TLDR
- Have finally got a version of my hustle built for my first customer ( 8 years of percolating idea)
- We will have MVP shortly
- We are both benefitting, he hasn't paid for an app, and I've got deep customer insight, and potential long term customer.
We are about to hit rubber to road, and I want to put down in writing, not a contract, but something at least, so he knows where he stand and I do.
Has anyone done something similar?
Thinking of a outline like this...
- He gets free software, acknowledges could be bugs, and in time will move to paid product
What's the purpose of this agreement? If it's simply to manage expectations, then I'd toss it in an, 'I agree' popup when he registers and send him a copy in email. I've done this a number of times in the past, and it sets the stage about what they can expect and what we're asking in return.
One note: I've never asked someone to guarantee me they'll move to the paid product. Usually, the early adopter is the one I keep in there for free for ever and ever. I get the value from their feedback, testimonial, and network effects.
Its exactly that, to set expectations. I don't want to lose a mate. I get you about remaining free due to the various benefits.
no lawyer but i don't think you can bind him to paying for the product in the future.
