Tuesday Edition: Daily Stand Up!
#daily-stand-up
Why?
That extra nudge of accountability to achieve even a small step on your IH journey each day.
To join in:
01 Share your epic (a big chunk of work with a meaty objective) you'd like to complete by the end of February.
02 Share what you accomplished yesterday.
03 Share what you commit to accomplishing today.
04 Comment on at least one fellow hacker's progress and give them an IH Point for their check in.
Optional:
05 Share your Work In Progress to underscore your accomplishments.
Then tune in the tomorrow to share how you did on your own tasks!

@AndrewV a video on the landing page works so much better than screenshots. Hope you get it done by Feb!
Thanks! I'm excited about the video. I played with kdenlive enough to get the basics, add audio, etc. Now I just need to create a long video that I can splice together to tell a quick story (and figure out how to keep the size small and not look compressed to 1990s video standards haha) :)

Oh neat, this is open source! The site feels like a clean design too. I like the in-page demo idea, but I think it makes the UI feel cramped. Might be better to open a new tab?
Yeah, there's a link to open it in a new tab. I'm experimenting with removing the static navbar (not sure this is a good idea though) - it allows for a larger demo view.
Also, I think the embedded demo makes it look better because of the curved borders and stuff haha. But you're definitely right that it's more usable in a new tab :)
Can the notification system be used to bring in the beta testers to come use things?
I thought about it, so I added some "system notification" tools to send updates, but for now, it's only in-app notifications.
I think once I have some sort of on boarding UI (which will hopefully include a video tutorial), I'll make an e-mail push to get the beta users to try it again.
I've thought about a "You have unread notifications"-style e-mail, but I'm wary of it being marked as spam or seeming disingenuous haha
