Ebay

It's a bit rubbish isn't it. I've been having a bit of a clear out at home and the whole process of listing and then communicating with buyers is just really tedious. Their fees are also extortionate for the service they are offering (listing fee and a selling fee - what's that about!?!) and their pricing is not clear. I have no idea what my net fees to them are going to be - doesn't seem fair at all.

Feels like a problem that could be solved a lot better, and actually a place where a smaller, leaner competitor could do well.

Wondered if others had thought the same? Or if anyone knew of any competitors?
Seems like quite a simple business, the problem is just the network effects I guess.

A general use two-way marketplace might be one of the most difficult businesses to compete with. That's the whole reason why Craigslist is still around.

How would you get the sellers? There are way more buyers on ebay already.
