#daily-stand-up
Why?
That extra nudge of accountability to achieve even a small step on your IH journey each day.
To join in:
01 Share your epic (a big chunk of work with a meaty objective) you'd like to complete by the end of February.
02 Share what you accomplished yesterday.
03 Share what you commit to accomplishing today.
04 Comment on at least one fellow hacker's progress and give them an IH Point for their check in.
Optional:
05 Share your Work In Progress to underscore your accomplishments.
Then tune in the tomorrow to share how you did on your own tasks!

KUDOS: @Davey for publishing a blog post!
WIP: Happy Endings
Aww thanks! The Quest for Chicks. Sounds like a good article name. As an aside, I once wrote an article on LinkedIn called "Top upcoming movies chicks love" because of some neat data diving I had been doing, and got absolutely ripped apart by some female support groups, who did not appreciate my use of certain terms, or the presumption in my title and article. That was scary.
Goal by end of February: Consulting site redesign and migrated to Wordpress with tutorials & videos integrated. This also involves learning to create my first Wordpress theme. I should really outsource it but I've spent more time trying to manage unsatisfactory designers. This will help me have the layout I want with the ease of posting content I need. Nice to have -- Wordpress posts in Markdown from github. Anyone know of a plugin / tool for this?
Today: Monday is networking, research, and planning day. So I get to play around and surf online. Because there is a lot of planning and catchup communication from over the weekend, I avoid delving into a big "work" project on Mondays -- because then I just get frustrated by interruptions or disappointed by my lack of progress.
I was supposed to write new copy for my consulting website today too -- hope to get that done tonight.
Read Tsavo Neal's work about designing consulting websites, communicating with potential clients, partners, employers, etc. Appium Desktop 2.0 research, React Native research. Joined Indie Hackers.
This week: Wordpress up and running. Minimal design. Working contact form, meeting scheduler. Selenium Page Object tutorial video for Linkedin Learning.
Next week: Content, content -- all the links on website have something to say -- about, services, etc. YouTube Integration. Outline complete series of Selenium Refactoring videos. Customer work: Foxfish site contact, galleries, pattern purchases.
Iβm super slow with things like theme modification, so I tend to look for something suitable from one of the many theme sites out there as a starting point. Iβm guessing you already tried this route, what happened?
I've looked through quite a few themes but it always seems to come out looking different with your own content instead of the demo.
I also want to have features outside of typical themes -- want to control my header/footer space, etc. Probably a waste of time and I'm both too picky and not a good enough designer. I've also tried page builders like Elementor and not really been satisfied. Maybe I should look into just building an MVC site (e.g. Rails) since I think in terms of templates and components and use the WP API and admin interface for authoring.
I have the same experience with themes :) I use a tool called Bootstrap Builder which helps me a lot because I really am useless with CSS. It helps me put together pages which at least will work and be responsive, now and then they look OK!
Thanks for the tip
Ooh, a bit late to the party, but:
π last friday: finished our first product planning session.
π¨βπ» today: add in linting, plan the item model, and get started with building the front end state.
π§ obstacles: none.

Hey! I like the 25 minutes per day/live streaming approach. Building something one small piece at a time... I'm not entirely sure what your building though.
Hey, I've been constantly receiving that feedback. Definitely need to work on the message. Thank you!

Checked out your blog post.
Ha! That's one of my common misspelled words. Yes, the website is a third medium I can use to do a whole ton of stuff, looking forward to cracking that one open!
I know what you mean, weather or not I do the same haha

Yeah! I published it to the Play Store last night. Now I'll probably spend the next week trying to get the iOS version to build...
