Ebook 👉 Routine Recommendation

So last week I released a curly hair ebook. When I asked people who bought it what else do they want, they said that they wish there was a way to quickly get a routine.

After digging deeper, one person told me this is their process for finding the right product:

1. Ask a curly hair specific facebook group about their opinion
2. Check out youtube videos and try to find someone with similar hair as them
3. Read reviews from multiple site since she believe some sites have fake reviews
4. Finally buy it from the brand's website
   She mentioned this was for only 1 product and she has many products in her routine. Yikes!

Initially, I was working on a bubble prototype where people can take a quiz and automatically get a routine and aggregated info about the product (youtube video, reviews, etc) all in one place. Then I thought, what are other ways to learn as much as possible. Automating is great and I can still get some data like the amount of time spent on a site but not a ton of data on why someone bought the product or left the website immediately.

So instead, I created a Typeform where I get people's hair data and phone numbers. Then I manually create a list of products, reviews of people with similar hair as them saying it works, and affiliate links. That way I can go back and forth with people via text and if they buy something I can ask why. And if they don't I can get that data too.

Although this is more tedious, this allows me to determine what makes people buy something and I can use this data when I automate it in the future.
