eCommerce App looking for Tech & Mkt co-Partners

Hi there,

I started a project a year ago for Shopify-based brands. Its name is Dropious and the idea behind is simple: connect brands and multi-brand eCommerce stores to cross-sell products among them. The App syncs everything in the backend, and it has been built for small and medium brands to increase revenue receiving sales from other related brands, add and test new products, and cut acquisition costs.

I boostrapped the project from the very beginning, but at this stage I think it's a project that should be ideally managed by a small team of three. The App is almost ready to launch (in fact, it's now published in the Shopify App Store and pre-launched for Early Bird brands). Let's say that the programming "hard part" is done, and as an MVP is very extensive in terms of features.

I'm looking for a couple of partners that really love eCommerce and bootsrapping to manage the project with me. A developer plus a marketing / sales profiles to combine with me will be my ideal. I'm not a developer, my core is build the idea from concept to launch + product design + marketing approach (in this case, I'm using cold email and some networking).

If anyone could be interested, feel free to send me a message or drop a few lines in the comments section. I'll be happy to share more info about the project, vision, roadmap, next steps, my background, etc.

:-)

    This is a great idea.

However, I'm 99% sure it's going to be used as a Dropshipping plugin. Not a bad thing.

It would blow up even faster.

As you can see from my post, I have substantial experience. Especially selling to eCommerce stores.

    1. Secure supply

    2. Generate demand

    3. You start by creating a significant supply on the platform. Cold email outreach is really your best friend there and I know where, and how to find the leads.

You could also message/email some Amazon and eBay sellers as they are already listing their products on third-party sites.

The first question you'll get is; How does shipping work if a customers order both my own and third-party products?

    1. Post in Dropshipping groups, SEO content focused on Dropshipping. It's not your long-term customer, but it will be picked up fairly fast.

      Bernard,

Thank you very much for your answer and comments.

      • I'm pretty sure too that Dropshipping should be the real booster for this App. The reason why I'm starting with brands is because they tend to be very "protective" with their brand & products, so I think a good first step for marketing the App and build this first supply listing is to create a high-product community, and then move forward to other players (multi-brand eCommerce stores, pure Drosphipping players, Shopify-based marketplaces as well...)

      • "You could also message/email some Amazon and eBay sellers as they are already listing their products on third-party sites." + "Post in Dropshipping groups, SEO content focused on Dropshipping. It's not your long-term customer, but it will be picked up fairly fast." Cool points, thank you for these suggestions.

      • "The first question you'll get is; How does shipping work if a customers order both my own and third-party products?". Ahhh, this is one of the pain points for the final customer, but curiously the brands I'm talking with don't seem to be worried about this. They are more concerned about the action of choosing / blocking who sell their products. Anyway, I've added a feature that let the brands to receive the product in their location/warehouse and then ship it to the final customer, but it's just a "extra control" feature, I mean, it's not very operative (extra shipping cost & extra delivery time).

      • If you're experienced about cold email / selling eCommerces and could be interested in find a wey to collab, drop me a line here > [email protected] to chat

      Thank you! :)

I run a 13-person sales team and a 4-person marketing selling to eCommerce stores, so I definitely know. But I think you need someone full-time for this product. I can help with copy if you need it.

Hello, the idea sounds interesting and it looks like you have things rolling (the page looks good btw.) I would like to hear more definitely.

I have a lot of experience in building eCommerce startups and would like to move things to the next level. What do you think should be your next steps?

      Hi!

Thank you for your reply (and interest too!)

Next steps for me should be:

      • move quickly with acquisition. Entry barriers are low on term of costs, just need to scale the cold email (or other/s) strategy.
      • add "small" extra features such us multilingual, adding specific discounts per brand, or the ability to have a private profile
      • open to other players, not just brands (multi-brand ecommerce stores, Dropshippers, marketplaces...)
      • and last but not least, sync other platforms

      That's all haha XD

Let's have a chat > [email protected] (send a DM now)

Hey, this sounds interesting. Did you do any validation on the demand end before building out the MVP? What are you ideally looking for in a partner?

      Hi!

      • "Hey, this sounds interesting." - Thank you! :)

      • "Did you do any validation on the demand end before building out the MVP? " - Haha, the right answer should be "yes", but mine is "OMG, nope!". I have been running a fashion & footwear company for the last 10 years, so this is the classic "solve-my-own-problem" idea for a startup. I also was very influenced for the fast-growing Dropshipping and Print-on-demand Apps / movement. I think there is a huge market for Apps that sync, connect and offer new ways for source products , increase sales and / or can help cutting acquisition costs. Now I have my first 50 installations.

      • "What are you ideally looking for in a partner?" - Quick view: alignment in the short-terms & long-terms objectives + some free/partial time to dedicate + the possibility of discussing ideas and making solutions and decisions together (solopreneur is hard in this sense, at least for me) + vision/mission (in my case, being really capable of bring some value to small - medium size brands) + skills to help in development or acquisition + relax and have fun too doing this thing.

If you find it interesting and feel like talking, let's have a chat > [email protected]

      Thank you!
