eCommerce Growth Saga: Scaling an eCom 0-7 Figures Part 2 (Our Strategies, Lessons Learned, and More)

Hey Hackers!

Recently finished up a part 2 article of our super in-depth case study/growth-saga of scaling a brand new eCommerce product from scratch 0-7 figures in 7 months. Some of you liked the first article (can find my previous post from my profile), so thought I'd share an update.

In this chapter, we’re focusing on how we achieved a 247.50% growth rate over 4 months and give a step-by-step analysis of it all.

The truth is, there’s so much going on behind the scenes it’s hard to contain it in 1 article.

So, here's a brief summary of what we covered in part of the eCommerce saga article.

eCommerce Growth Team Overview - For the most part, there are 2 types of organizational structures: Mechanistic and Organic. For this account, we went with a Pod System (part of organic approach). In this design, everyone has a role to play in driving the business and are equally accountable to all parts of it. Team members are responsible to each other and to the client to maximize collaboration and efficiency. The team consisted of: senior eCommerce strategist, ad buyer, creative ads team, email marketing, CRO team, influencer marketing team.

Workflow / Framework Process - We used classic Agile framework. Every Monday, each team would meet in Sprints (short, time-boxed team works to complete a set amount of work) to discuss what happened in the last 7 days and adapt our deliverables accordingly. Couple of days before the Sprint meeting, we release an Epic – an overarching angle the video team will base stories on. Then, in the meeting, team members would present their ideas and angles they could use for the ads.

Finding the Right Product Market Fit - To better understand the audience here, we used a post-purchase survey (Enquire), and an exit poll (Hotjar feedback). The best way to find more info about your target audience is to just ask them directly... So, we did just that.

And More - Can't attach screenshots here, but in the full article, we also give a breakdown analysis of: 6 top-performing Facebook ads and creatives, 5 different landing page CRO breakdowns, top-email marketing newsletters (sales, announcements, etc.), approach to content, and more.
